Guntur located 40 miles (64 km) to the west of the Bay of Bengal, is a city and a municipal corporation in the Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh, India. It is also the administrative capital of Guntur district and the third most populous city in Andhra Pradesh with a population of 651,382. and urban agglomeration population of 673,952. In the year 2012, the city limits were expanded by merging ten surrounding villages into the corporation.
